Information about our company ....
Founded in 1978 as a manufacturer of copper specialty products for the roofing trade, the Mullane Company has since evolved to specialize in the manufacturing of quality snow retention products. This focus and the many years of experience in the study and production of these products have made the sales and engineering staff at M. J. Mullane Co Inc., the most trusted and knowledgeable in the business.
In 1999, M. J. Mullane Company Inc. created Bronze Guard® Products, a wholly owned subsidiary, to market and to more closely control the quality of it's cast bronze snow guard products. The company's goal has always been to manufacture the highest quality snow retention products, combining traditional design with modern metallurgy and materials engineering. All products are continuously tested, both in the lab and field, in order to constantly improve their quality, and their value to the user.
In 2001 the company purchased the assets of the Fitrite snow guard line, also known as the David Levow snow guard. The Fitrite - David Levow snow guard system was first established in Brooklyn, NY in the 1890's. This aquisition was a perfect match for us, as we have become the leading company in offering historically accurate reproduction products for snow retention systems. We can now offer these snow fence systems in two and three pipe styles, available in bronze and galvanized iron. The Fitrite line also offers tile brackets for Ludowici Spanish tiles, and Celadon Designer styles, in bronze or aluminum. All castings are made in modern American foundries, using the highest quality alloys. Along with highly skilled foundrymen, this quality combination assures that the cast parts will never crack under the most extreme conditions.
All of the company's bronze castings are locally produced by craftsmen using the latest sand casting technology. This close working relationship with our foundry assures that each piece is cast using pure tin bronze alloys, and that each casting is of consistent quality.
In 2002, the company introduced the Snow Boss® snow protection system for adhesive application on modern painted metal roofs. In addition to the standard Models 640 and 690 (which we have produced for almost 10 years) we have introduced the Model 630, which is used primarily for window wells and cornices. These models are manufactured in the aluminum alloy almag 35 for strength and resistance to corrosion. They are available with Dupont Imron enamels which can be matched to any color metal roof systems. An exciting addition to the Snow Boss® line is the newly designed and engineered Model 650 Snow Boss® in Lexan. Standard colors are clear, Fenway Green and Patriot Blue. The model 650 was designed to take advantage of mechanical properties (See Design Paper by J.K.) that maximize the effectiveness of modern tube applied adhesives. The base of the 650 incorporates features that greatly improve the adhesive grip to hold up under the most extreme loads.
The company was founded and operates in the central Massachusetts town of Hudson, in a 12,000 sq. ft. wing of a restored mill. An old shoe town, Hudson is now a mix of high tech firms, and small manufacturers. The proximity to interstate transportation, and the availability of manufacturing space in the mills, assures that the company will continue to be able to expand as the business grows. |
